Postdoc/Assistant professor in Geobiology and Biogeochemistry

The Natural History Museum of Denmark (Copenhagen) is offering a 2-year position postdoc/assistant professor commencing June 1, 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The Dahl lab is a recently started group at the Natural History Museum of Denmark. The group's main focus is on the co-evolution of life and Earth's environment and specifically on the oxygenation of Earth's atmosphere and oceans. The project is part of a research project " Oxygen and the rise of forests on Earth" funded by the Danish Council for Independent Research aimed at understanding how the appearance of forests on the continents influenced oxygen levels in the Earth's oceans and atmosphere. The work is highly interdisciplinary and merges experimental geochemistry, geology and theoretical geophysics. The group is imbedded in a unique international research environment with access to novel infrastructure for high precision stable isotope analyses. It is a strong international research environment with researchers from more than 10 countries, and research collaborations across the sections in the museum are warmly encouraged.
We are seeking a highly motivated, hard working researcher who is able to work in a multidisciplinary and international environment. The ideal candidate has a strong experimental background in stable isotope geochemistry with expertise in high precision stable isotope analyses. She/he should have a strong background in isotope paleoproxies, historical geochemistry and geobiology, and have experience with laboratory work, the basic concepts in ion chromatography and multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (MC-ICPMS) and with calibration of paleo-proxies. Experience with geochemical modeling (e.g., PHREECQ, Geochemist Workbench) and/or theoretical Earth system models will be considered positively. The candidate should be equally comfortable working as part of a team and achieving assigned tasks autonomously, should care for details, have the inclination to provide constructive feedback, and the ability to work carefully and organized in the laboratory.
The postdoc’s duties will include research within isotope geochemistry and as well as teaching. The post may also include performance of other duties.
The candidate must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) obtained no more than four years prior to the application deadline. The 4 years may be extended by the length of any maternity / paternity leave, sickness or maternity leave, military service, humanitarian aid, etc. completed during the period. In case of maternity/paternity leave, the PhD age could be extended by the number of days on leave multiplied by 2.
