The University seeks to appoint an associate professor to the Department of Odontology to commence as soon as possible. 
About the department 
The Department of Odontology is part of the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen. The Department undertakes education, research and specialized treatment within the field of dentistry as well as corresponding and associated fields. 
Approximately 450 students are enrolled in the dentisty programme and the Department also hosts the postgraduate programme in orthodontics. 
The Department houses a large clinical section (with approximately 200 units) as well as research laboratories providing optimal facilities for clinical training and research activities. 
The Department currently has approximately 300 employees, including technical, clinical, administrative and faculty staff.

Job description 
The associate professor’s responsibilities will primarily consist of: 
  • Research, including publication/academic dissemination  
  • Research-based teaching, including associated examination, within the field of periodontology and oral microbiology including clinical periodontology. The applicant must be prepared to undertake teaching assignments within other disciplines at the Department of Odontology. 
  • Research leadership, including guidance and supervision of researchers  
  • Obligation to share knowledge with the rest of society, including participation in public debate  
  • Academic assessments  
  • Administrative functions 
The distribution of the Associate Professor's different functions may vary periodically according to the department's requirements. 
The Associate Professor may also be expected to perform tasks at the Specialized Dental Clinic. 
Required qualifications  
The successful applicant should be able to document: 
  • Practical and theoretical knowledge of Periodontology and Oral Microbiology 
  • A DDS degree  and research qualifications achievable in a position as assistant professor or equivalent within the Periodontology and Oral Microbiology, including the application of modern molecular biological methods in oral microbiology 
  • Teaching qualifications and pedagogical competencies 
  • Research-based teaching 
The associate professor is also required to possess good interpersonal and communicative skills. 
Terms of employment  
Salary and other terms and conditions of appointment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant professional organisations. The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2013.

Application procedure
