Two Assistant Professorships in Medical Psychology

Two Assistant Professorships at the Department of Public Health, Section of Environmental Health, Section of Medical Psychology, University of Copenhagen are available starting on October 1 2018 or as soon hereafter. The positions are initially limited to four years. The Unit of Medical Psychology existing core areas of research relate to sexuality, couple and relationship research in a public health perspective, and life course research with a special focus on early development and old age. Psychological and epidemiological methods are often combined in studies of sexuality, relationships, personality, cognition, mental symptoms and quality of life as predictors of health, morbidity and mortality over the life course. More specific areas of inquiry includes studies of obesity and psychotherapy.  
The position 
The position’s duties will primarily include research, publication in international peer-reviewed journals, teaching with associated examination obligations and when possible scientific public communication within the field of Medical Psychology as it relates to existing research and teaching obligations at the Unit of Medical Psychology. During your employment as assistant professor, participation in the formal pedagogical training program for assistant professors is expected. 
  • PhD or equivalent 
  • Strong publication record 
  • A background in medicine, psychology or public health 
  • Strong statistical abilities and knowledge of quantitative methodology 
  • Ability to work independently 
  • High productivity  
  • Interests in or documented teaching abilities and responsibilities 
The assessment committee will put special emphasis on the qualification above. Further, the successful candidate is expected to hold interests in or preferably a documented publication record in one or more core areas of existing research at the Unit of Medical Psychology (see above). Finally, proven ability of attracting external funding will be advantageous.   
Employment conditions 
Salary and other terms and conditions of appointment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant professional organizations. In addition to the seniority-based salary, the appointee will receive an annual supplement of currently DKK 49,300 and additional qualifications supplement may be negotiated on an individual basis.
