The Department of Food and Resource Economics, Faculty of Science, University of Copenhagen invites applications for a position as assistant professor within the field of Agricultural Economics. The position will have its main emphasis on economic aspects related to the activities within the agricultural sector and exploration of the factors driving the changes in agricultural activities, e.g. agricultural and environmental policies, climate change, and food demand.  
 
We are looking for applicants with documented research experience, including empirical modelling and/or econometric research within one or more of the following research areas:  
  • economics of land use and climate change and related policies;  
  • agricultural economics and microeconomic analysis of farms and farm households; 
  • evaluation of agricultural and environmental policies; 
  • agricultural value chains and upstream and downstream effects of agricultural activities; 
  • agricultural food markets and trade in developed and developing countries. 
 
The assistant professor’s duties will primarily include theoretical and empirical research, including contributions to collaborative and interdisciplinary work, research-based teaching with associated examination obligations and acquiring formal pedagogical training, and public sector consultancy work.  
 
Applicants must have a PhD degree in one of the mentioned fields or equivalent, must have worked with research within relevant fields in a previous academic position, and have solid theoretical and thematic knowledge. Documented experience in securing third-party funding is preferred.

Terms of employment 
The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff.  
 
Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State.  
 
The starting salary is currently up to DKK 426,625 including annual supplement (+ pension up to DKK 72,952). Negotiation for salary supplement is possible.
