<p>The Department of Biomedical Sciences (BMI), Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen, seeks to appoint a tenure‑track assistant professor or an associate professor to commence 1 March 2027, or as soon as possible thereafter.</p>

<p>BMI focuses on basic and translational biomedicine and the integration of these topics. The staff includes graduates in medicine, life and natural sciences, with interests spanning physiology, biochemistry, anatomy, pharmacology, and clinical medicine. The staff delivers high-quality, research-based, and clinically relevant pre- and postgraduate teaching on courses within biomedicine, physiology and pharmacology and supervises postgraduate students. A team of laboratory technicians and administrative staff supports the Department.</p>

<p>BMI prioritizes translational cardiometabolic research as a core strategic focus. Diseases like diabetes, obesity, atherosclerosis, and heart failure create immense global health challenges, necessitating novel mechanistic insights and cutting-edge pharmacological solutions. BMI’s expertise in physiology, pharmacology, and cell- and animal-based models equips the Department to spearhead progress in these critical areas.</p>

<p>Modern cardiometabolic research spans fundamental studies of disease mechanisms as well as prevention and treatment. It integrates more effective lifestyle interventions with emerging pharmacological approaches and places mechanistic insights into drug–target interactions at the centre of innovation.<s> </s></p>

<p><strong>Required Qualifications:</strong><br />
General criteria apply to the appointment of tenure-track assistant professors and associate professors at the University of Copenhagen. The criteria (research, teaching, innovation & societal impact, organisational contribution, and leadership) are considered as a framework for an overall assessment of the applicant. <p><strong>Tenure‑track Assistant Professor</strong></p>

<ul>
	<li>PhD degree or equivalent</li>
	<li>High international research standing or potential, including publications and dissemination</li>
	<li>Proven ability to secure external funding is considered an advantage</li>
	<li>Teaching experience and participation in formal pedagogical training</li>

<p><span style="color:black">The tenure track assistant professor must have an academic standing showing internationally competitive research, and/or have internationally recognized high potential to make a future impact. </span></p>

<p>The tenure track assistant professor’s performance will be evaluated through annual evaluations. Furthermore, the tenure track assistant professor will be evaluated in a mid-track appraisal.</p>

<p>After no more than six years of employment and on condition of a positive final appraisal, the tenure track assistant professor will be employed as associate professor. <p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p>

<ul>
	<li>The responsibilities of both tenure‑track assistant professor & associate professors are centered around the five areas <strong>research, teaching, innovation & societal impact, organisational contribution, and leadership</strong> described in <a href="https://employment.ku.dk/faculty/criteria-for-recognising-merit/" target="_blank">the University criteria of merit</a>.</li>
	<li>Research and publication/academic dissemination within translational cardiometabolic research and attracting external funding.</li>
	<li>Both tenure-track assistant professors and associate professors must be prepared to take on research‑based, student‑activating teaching, including examinations, within the Department’s portfolio that covers the areas of organ anatomy, histology, physiology, pharmacology and/or biochemistry.</li>
	<li>Tenure-track assistant professors must participate in a university pedagogical training programme.</li>
	<li>The University language policy states that both tenure-track assistant professors and associate professors are expected to obtain Danish language skills at a level where they are able to contribute to teaching in Danish after 3-6 years. This includes grading and supervising students at a level of skills that corresponds to the teaching they are to undertake. <description><![CDATA[<p><span style="color:black">The University of Copenhagen seeks to appoint a visionary and team-oriented tenure-track assistant professor to commence 1 February, 2027, or as soon as possible thereafter.</span></p>

<p><span style="color:black">Candidates should work in one of the main areas of philosophy (theoretical philosophy, practical philosophy, and/or history of philosophy). They will be expected to teach some of the main courses in the philosophy programme and must be able to teach topics within German or French philosophy after 1900. Teaching qualifications in additional subjects not covered by other faculty members are welcome. The successful candidate will be part of the Section for Philosophy and is expected to take an active part in the Section’s research activities (e.g., section seminars, reading groups, and talks) and collegial events (e.g., end-of-term gatherings).</span></p>

<p>A tenure-track assistant professorship is a six-year, fixed-term academic position involving both research and teaching. The successful candidate will be obliged to complete a teacher-training course designed especially for assistant professors and will be expected to be able to take part in all the activities of the Department, including examinations and administration.</p>

<p>Approximately six months before the end of the six-year period as tenure-track assistant professor, a committee will evaluate whether the assistant professor can be promotedto a tenured position as associate professor.</p>

<description><![CDATA[<p>The Faculty of Theology, University of Copenhagen, invites applications for one position as Tenure-Track Assistant Professor or Associate Professor (Open Rank) in New Testament Studies to be filled by 1 February 2027, or as soon as possible thereafter.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify"><strong>Job description</strong><br />
The Section for Biblical Studies seeks to appoint one new faculty member in New Testament Studies. The call is open to candidates working in all aspects of New Testament and early Christian studies, including immediately adjacent fields. The successful candidate is expected to combine an active and internationally oriented research agenda with research-based teaching, collegiality, and a willingness to contribute constructively to the Danish research and pedagogical environment.</p>

<p>The ideal candidate will demonstrate:</p>

<ul>
	<li>an active research agenda in New Testament Studies, early Christian studies, or immediately adjacent fields,</li>
	<li>a high level of the relevant language skills,</li>
	<li>methodological sophistication and commitment to collaboration,</li>
	<li>potential for, or documented experience with, research leadership, including grant applications and externally funded research,</li>
	<li>capacity and enthusiasm to teach a wide range of courses related to the curriculum of New Testament Studies at Bachelor, Master and PhD levels, and</li>
	<li>collegiality and willingness to take an active part in the intellectual, administrative and communal life of the Section, Department and Faculty.</li>
</ul>

<p>The position involves a commitment to take an active part in the faculty’s research environment and research-based teaching, including examination and supervision related to the theology programmes at Bachelor, Master and PhD levels, open programmes, and any new areas of study. It also involves taking part in activities related to securing funding for and managing research projects, providing pedagogical supervision, and participating in academic assessments.</p>

<p>The successful candidate must be able to offer courses on New Testament Studies at all levels.</p>

<p><strong>Department description</strong><br />
The department studies the scriptures of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, which are considered – to varying degrees foundational, normative, and sacred.<br />
Our focus is on:</p>

<ul>
	<li>the Old Testament/Hebrew Bible and other formative documents of ancient Judaism (including, for example, Dead Sea Scrolls and Hellenistic Jewish sources),</li>
	<li>the New Testament and other formative documents of early Christian studies (including, for example, ancient Jewish and non-canonical Christian sources),</li>
	<li>the Qur'an and its earliest traditions and commentaries.</li>
</ul>

<p>Our research and teaching encompass the various exegetical traditions, historical contexts, material cultures, and reception histories that emerge around each of these three collections of sacred writings.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify"><strong>Qualification requirements</strong><br />
The position requires scientific qualifications such as a PhD degree in the field of New Testament Studies, including studies in early Christian studies or other immediately adjacent fields. Appointment will be made at Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level according to the applicant’s qualifications and the applicable rules at the University of Copenhagen.</p>

<p>Appointment as a tenure track assistant professor assumes research qualifications at least at PhD level. Candidates must be able to document competences in research as well as teaching. Candidates are expected to document scholarly research production at an international level and must demonstrate the potential to make a significant impact in their field at both local and international levels.</p>

<p>Appointment as an associate professor assumes research and teaching qualifications corresponding to the level of associate professor. Candidates must be able to document an established record of scholarly research production at an international level, teaching experience, and the ability to contribute independently to research, teaching, administration, collaboration and the academic development of the field.</p>

<p>In connection with the overall assessment of the individual applicant, emphasis is placed on the applicant’s research and teaching potential and/or documented experience within the fields described above.</p>

<p>Within a reasonable period (normally within 3–6 years), a non-Danish-speaking appointee will be required to acquire proficiency in Danish sufficient to teach in Danish as well as interact in Danish with colleagues and students.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify"><strong>Terms of employment</strong><br />
Terms of appointment and salary will be in accordance with an agreement between the Ministry</p>

<p>of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC). It is possible to</p>

<p>negotiate salary supplements on an annual basis.</p>

<p>If the appointment is made at assistant professor level, it will be as a tenure track assistant professorship with a duration of six years. The main responsibilities consist of research, teaching, societal impact activities, departmental service tasks, and administration. The ideal candidate must complete the university’s Teaching and Learning in Higher Education programme. The Department will appoint a mentor for the assistant professor.</p>

<p>At the end of the sixth year of employment, the Dean will set up an assessment committee for the purpose of evaluating the basis for a promotion to associate professor.
