Staff Scientist (Molcular Biologist) in Translational Hematology

The Helin group at the Biotech Research and Innovation Centre (BRIC), a research center of excellence at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen, is seeking a highly motivated molecular biologist for a staff scientist position in translational hematology.   
 
Job description  
We are seeking an ambitious candidate with a strong interest in cancer genetics and epigenetics and a wish to be part of an interactive team of several scientific and clinical research groups working on translational hematology. The successful candidate will join the lab of Prof. Kristian Helin and thus take part in the highly dynamic environment of excellent research on chromatin regulation and cancer biology, while working as a staff scientist within the realms of the newly established Program for Translational Hematology. The staff scientist position is dedicated to in-depth molecular characterization of sampled material from leukemia patients. Practically, the main tasks will center on extraction, preparation and handling of DNA and RNA from patient samples for high-throughput genomic, epigenomic and transcriptome analyses.   
 
Start: As soon as possible, exact date after agreement  
Duration: 3 years  
 
Qualifications and skills  
The successful applicant should have  
  • A PhD in life sciences or equivalent research experience  
  • A strong track-record in molecular biology  
  • Good organizational skills and a detail-oriented, structured approach to practical lab work   
  • Previous experience with high-throughput sequencing projects is considered an advantage  
 
Place of employment  
The employment is at BRIC, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in a dynamic and international research environment with weekly journal clubs, data clubs and seminars with invited speakers. Our research facilities include modern laboratories and a number of core facilities shared between the 24 research groups at BRIC and the neighboring Finsen Laboratory. In addition, there will be strong collaborative ties to other research groups at BRIC/DanStem/Rigshospitalet through the Program for Translational Hematology.  
 
Terms of salary and employment  
The employment is as ‘staff scientist’ (AC-TAP-FU) in the Helin Group. The appointment is fixed-term (three years), full-time with starting date as soon as possible after agreement. Salary, pension and terms of employment will be in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Academics Central organization.
