Postdoc position in the Andersen Group at BRIC, University of Copenhagen

A postdoc position in molecular biology is available for motivated and independent candidate in the Andersen Group at BRIC, University of Copenhagen.  
Our research/The group 
The focus of our research is translational medicine in primary human liver and biliary tract cancers with emphasis on genome-wide and high-throughput techniques in the characterization of tumor heterogeneity, prognostic and predictive biomarker discovery and drug response to aid novel therapeutics and clinical efficacy. It is our goal to improve diagnosis, clinical decision-making and ultimately patient outcome through translational and pharmacogenomics discoveries. This is facilitated in our Group via interdisciplinary research (bioinformatics and molecular biology/wet lab) as well as a strong national and international network of scientific and clinical collaborators.  
Project/The research project(s) 
The successful candidate will join a research group that utilizes genome-wide technologies, including genomic and epigenomic profiling, NGS and single-cell genomics as well as approaches in 3D cell culturing and xenograft transplantations. We use genomics-driven strategies to characterize and classify patient subgroups to identify oncogenic drivers and addiction networks with the aim of improving diagnostics and treatment. We unite research directly on patient samples and clinical data with basic molecular in vitro and in vivo models.  
A requirement for this position is a strong track record either in bioinformatics (e.g., proteomic analysis) and/or molecular biology (e.g., organoid culturing, in vivo techniques). Emphasis will be given to wet lab candidates with background in bioinformatics and/or liver research. 
 
Start: Preferably January 2018 or after agreement 
Duration: 2 years  
 
Qualifications 
We expect you to be a highly motivated and highly ambitious scientist with the following qualifications: 
  • A PhD in Life Sciences with experience in bioinformatics tools (e.g., R programming) 
  • Documented experience molecular and cellular biology (3D cell culturing, in vivo) 
  • Previous experience high-throughput screening 
  • Knowledge of proteomics 
  • The candidate is independently able to envision, plan and execute a research project 
  • Ability to function in a collaborative environment is essential since our group is multi-disciplinary and involved in collaborations at national and international level  
  • Excellent English skills written and spoken

Place of employment 
The employment is at BRIC, University of Copenhagen. BRIC is located in the Biocenter, close to the centre of Copenhagen. Terms of salary and employment 
Salary, pension and terms of employment will be in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Academics Central organization. Currently, the monthly salary starts at 32,745 DKK/ca. 4,366 Euro plus pension. Depending on qualifications, a higher salary may be negotiated.  
 
Non-Danish and Danish applicants may be eligible for tax reductions, if they hold a PhD degree and have not lived in Denmark the last 10 years. 
 
The position is covered by the “Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff at the Universities” of June 28, 2013.

The further process 
Shortlist: After expiry of the application deadline, the superior with power to appoint selects a number of applicants for assessment on the advice of the Appointments Committee. Applicants who were not passed for assessment should not expect further with regard to their application unless the shortlist is revised. 
 
Assessment: The selected applications will be assessed according to the Ministry Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities 2012 and the University of Copenhagen’s guidelines 2013. The Assessment Committee makes a non-prioritized assessment of the academic qualifications and experience with respect to the above mentioned area of research, techniques, skills and other requirements listed in the advertisement.
