Job description  
The Clinical Proteomics group headed by Matthias Mann undertakes a new bio-medical research program to characterize the plasma proteome and how it is associated with known and novel metabolic risk factors for diabetes, cardiovascular and cancer disease. The aim is to improve diagnosis and develop more individualized therapies by developing and implementing state-of-the-art microscope-based imaging and proteomics technologies.  
The associate professor’s responsibilities will primarily consist of:  
• Developing and integrating a clinical proteomics pipeline for identifying biological markers of metabolic disorder and cancer  
• Interdisciplinary research coordination between the host laboratory and Matthias Mann´s group at the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry, Munich, Germany.  
• Implementing quantitative microscopy into the clinical proteomics platform for analysis of biological samples  
• Functioning as Coordinator of the Genomics Platform in collaboration with the Danish Stem Cell Center  
• Research of dynamics with biomakers, including publication/academic dissemination  
• Research-based teaching, including associated examination  
• Research leadership, including guidance and supervision of researchers  
• Obligation to share knowledge with the rest of society, including participation in public debate  
• Academic assessments  
Required qualifications  
The successful applicant should be able to document:  
• Research qualifications achievable in a position as associate professor or equivalent within the subject area, including international research experience in discovery biology  
• Strong background in technology development and/or application for quantitative microscopy and data analysis  
• Experience in initiating and maintaining interdisciplinary collaborations on a national and international level  
• Excellent scientific track record demonstrated by high-quality publications in peer reviewed international journals  
• Experience in supervision of junior researchers and technical staff  
• Excellent skills in scientific writing, communication and leadership  
• Teaching qualifications and pedagogical competencies  
Terms of employment
Salary and other terms and conditions of appointment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant professional organizations. The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2013.
