PhD scholarship at the Center for Psychotherapy Research, Department of Psychology, University of Copenhagen and the Stolpegaard Psychotherapy Centre (PCS), Mental Health Services, Capital Region of Denmark

Funded by the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Copenhagen, applicants are invited for a three-year PhD position. In a collaboration between the Center for Psychotherapy Research, Department of Psychology, University of Copenhagen, and the Stolpegaard Psychotherapy Centre (PCS) under the Mental Health Services, Capital Region of Denmark, the chosen candidate will participate in the conduction of a randomized controlled trial of a new short-term mentalization-based treatment (MBT) of borderline personality disorder compared to the standard MBT (TAU). The trial is conducted at the Outpatient Clinic for Personality Disorders at PCS where the new short-term treatment already has been implemented. The chosen candidate will conduct baseline assessments of eligible patients prior to randomization (SCID-II, MINI, ZAN-BPD), oversee the practical implementation of the study at the clinic, and report the outcomes. Ideally, employment starts May 1st  2018, although a slightly later date might also be possible.

Applicants should have studied Psychology, Medicine, or a very related field, and must have completed a two-year MSc degree program or have earned 120 ECTS credits at an equivalent academic level before starting the employment. Candidates should be experienced in planning and conducting personality disorder research and/or psychotherapy research in general, and ideally have both educational training and clinical experience in conducting group-based MBT for borderline personality disorder. Experience in assessing personality disorders in a clinical setting is also advantageous. It is a requirement to understand and speak Danish fluently, given that all clinical assessments of patients are in Danish. 
The application should include a cover/motivation letter (max. 2 pages), CV, study certificates, own 
publications (if applicable; either as a first or co-author), the Master thesis (if applicable), as well as the name and contact information of at least one reference. The chosen candidate will be enrolled as a PhD student at the Faculty of Social Sciences (see the rules of the Danish Ministerial order No 1039 of August 27th 2013), completing the PhD program as a three-year full-time study within the framework of the 5+3 study program (see PhD students are paid a salary in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC). PhD students have a work obligation of up to 840 hours over the 3-year period without additional pay. The work obligation can include teaching (typically, not more than two seminars within the 3-year period).

After the expiry of the deadline for applications, the authorized recruitment manager selects applicants for assessment by the Appointments Committee (shortlisting). All applicants are then immediately notified whether their application has been passed on for assessment or not. The shortlisting will be based on the qualifications and knowledge in relevant aspects, as well as on the motivation of the applicants. Shortlisted applicants are notified of the composition of the assessment committee, and each applicant has the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that relates to the applicant her-/himself.
