Student job as Data Administrator at Centre of Excellence for International Courts, Faculty of Law, University of Copenhagen

Centre of Excellence for International Courts (iCourts) is a research centre dedicated to the study of international courts, their role in a globalising legal order and their impact on politics and society.  
The centre employs a number data-driven research methods and is among the leading law research centres in this regard. 
 
Work tasks:                                                                                                   
Management of the database, web-scraping and data wrangling.  
 
In more details : Research projects at iCourts require big amounts of texts to be scraped and stored. Currently texts are stored in a MySQL database using scripts in Python (and sometimes Java and C#) but new texts are not automatically scraped and integrated to the database. This will be your first task. 
 
More generally you will be responsible for making sure the data is backed up and for controlling its quality. We are also considering to increase the availability of the data, making it easier to access for researchers. You will be responsible for exploring any possible options in this regard and eventually implement the solution agreed upon.  You will work in close collaboration with the Data Scientist. 
 
Requirements:  
  • You are a student (BSc or Msc) studying related methods 
  • Students from Software Engineering are particularly encouraged to apply, but we are open to other relevant skills 
  • Languages and Technologies required:  Python and SQL. 
  • Knowledge in Java and C# is a plus  
  • Knowledge about the Content Management System Drupal  is also a plus 
 
Wage and working hours: 
 
On average, you are expected to work 10 hours per week.  
 
Period of employment begins as soon as possible. 
 
Your salary is determined in accordance with the rules on remuneration for students as set out in the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and HK/STAT. Minimum hourly wage by December 1, 2017: 121,06 kr.
