Laboratory Technician to Division of Cell and Gene Therapy, Center for Translational Neuromedicine

Division of Cell and Gene Therapy, Center for Translational Neuromedicine (CTN) is looking for a highly motivated Laboratory Technician. 
Description of our research team 
Our research group is based at the Center for Translational Neuromedicine. The Center currently has 55 employees and students, divided into two labs. Our Center is characterized as young, ambitious, dynamic and international, and we work in a fast-paced working environment. 
CTN is part of the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen, and is located at Panum. CTN comprises modern laboratories and excellent facilities within neuroscience.

Our Group is aimed at defining new strategies for the treatment of several neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders. Research focuses on utilizing human pluripotent stem cells as tools to study neural precursor and glial cell biology in normal and diseased environments. Of particular focus are myelin disorders (Multiple sclerosis, leukodystrophies), Huntington’s disease, Schizophrenia, Dementia and Glial Tumor biology.  
Work description 
We are looking for a well-organized, mature, driven and highly motivated Laboratory Technician to join our lab. The position as Laboratory Technician offers the opportunity to work in an ambitious and multi-disciplinary lab engaged in neuroscience. Our center has been recently established and is rapidly expanding, and thus we need an adaptable and efficient candidate to be involved in the daily running of the lab. This job offers adds the opportunity to be exposed to different cutting-edge techniques applied in neuroscience, spanning from molecular biology, human ESCs and IPSCs cultures and in vivo animal transplantation related analysis.  
It is highly desired that the applicant possesses expertise in all or most of the following: 
  • Placement and managing of orders (consumables, glassware, reagents, surgery tools and equipment, etc.); 
  • Obtaining quotations for equipment and consumables; 
  • Ensure that the lab complies with KU and government rules and regulations and develop/update the required protocols (work environment, chemical safety and labeling, GMO, animal research inspectorate, etc.); 
  • Waste disposal (chemical, clinical, sharps, etc.); 
  • Preparation of solutions for common use (PBS, PFA etc.); 
  • PCR/qPCR; 
  • Histology (sample sectioning and immune-staining of histological or cell culture samples; 
  • Mammalian cell culture (trained in sterile techniques, making media, enzymatic cell passage etc). 
  • Laboratory technician degree
  • Documented work experience from high quality academic or industrial laboratories is an advantage; 
  • Well-organized, independent and pro-active 
  • Adaptable to work with different people, mature and calm under pressure 
  • Flexible and helpful 
  • Proven experience in molecular biology is an advantage; 
  • Good communication skills in Danish and English, both orally and written. Our daily language is English. 
Start date 
As soon as possible hereafter. 
Employment period 
Permanent contract. 
Terms of salary and employment 
Salary, pension and terms of employment are in accordance with the provisions of the collective Agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Organizations of Public Employees – governmental institutions (the OAO-S collective agreement) and under HK/Dansk Laborantforening, placed in salary group 4. Salary supplement can be negotiated based on individual qualifications.
