Assistant Professor to Danstem
The Danish Stem Cell Center (DanStem) at Faculty of Health & Medical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen is looking for an Assistant professor to join the Semb Group starting May 1st 2017 or upon agreement.
DanStem comprises of two sections: The Novo Nordisk Foundation Section for Basic Stem Cell Biology, where we address basic research questions in stem cell and developmental biology (BasicStem). The second Section for Strategic Translational Stem Cell Research and Therapy (TransStem) is focused on the translation of promising basic research results into new strategies and targets for the development of new therapies for cancer and chronic diseases such as diabetes, Parkinson’s disease and liver failure. We are seeking a highly motivated and ambitious candidate join the research activities within our pancreas developmental biology program activities.
We are recruiting an outstanding, ambitious Assistant Professor candidate with a strong background in cell biology, and/or developmental biology to participate in a cross-disciplinary team studying pancreatic morphogenesis. The candidate will work on a project studying cellular dynamics, tubulogenesis and signaling in pancreas organogenesis. The primary task will be to perform and analyze time-lapse imaging of live mouse pancreatic organ explants in an established in vitro system using confocal microscopy. The candidate should have previous experience with confocal microscopy on an advanced level, and ideally also experience with live imaging of cells/organs using fluorescent reporters. Furthermore, a candidate with experience with cross-disciplinary collaboration, mouse genetics, fine dissection and Imaris and Fiji software would be preferred.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree in cell biology or developmental biology and a minimum of four years of post-doctoral experience (practical and theoretical) within the field of developmental biology of the pancreas.
Previous experience of independent training and mentoring undergraduate students is required
Relevant publication record including papers in pancreas developmental biology is essential
Ability to obtain grants would be a plus
Good English communication skills, both oral and written, are prerequisite for the successful candidate
Terms of salary, work, and employment
The employment is for 2, 8 years and is scheduled to start May 1st 2017 or upon agreement with the chosen candidate the place of work is at Danstem, University of Copenhagen, Blegdamsvej 3B, Copenhagen. Salary, pension and terms of employment are in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Government and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). In addition to the basic salary a monthly contribution to a pension fund is added (17.1% of the salary).
