Laboratory assistant at the Department of Chemistry, Section for Chemical Biology

Chemistry at Science, University of Copenhagen is looking for one laboratory assistant with effect from 15/08/2026 for 10 hours per week.

About us

The section for Chemical Biology and Nanobioscience is at the interface between synthetic chemistry, biology and biophysics. We focus on understanding biological and chemical phenomena at the nano-scale and explore the application of this knowledge to biomedicine. The Hatzakis Lab group focuses on understanding on the molecular mechanisms that underlie and control vital cellular functions. The group consists of 30 people, among them 2 Assistant Professor, 1 Facility Manager, 1 Center Coordinator, 5 PostDoc, 10 PhDs, 4 Master students, as well as some Bachelor students and Erasmus guest students.

Tasks

You will be responsible for ensuring smooth daily operations and providing organizational and practical support to the Hatzakis lab group.

Your tasks will include but not limited to

  • Preparing buffers, media and basic regents
  • Cleaning and preparing glass slides for our fluorescent microscopes
  • Responsible for ordering of samples and chemicals as well as pick up packages
  • Organizing and maintaining the laboratory environment
  • Cleaning and descaling two coffee machines each week
  • Disposing of chemical waste once a month
  • And other similar tasks

We expect

  • BSc or MSc Students
  • Able to distribute the hours across the week (at least 2 days a week)
  • Good coordination, time-management and planning skills, as well as good communication with the group’s members
  • Competency in Outlook, Microsoft

Terms of salary and employment

The employment is made in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Organisations of Public Employees – governmental institutions (the OAO-S collective agreement) and the Professional Agreement for clerical employees, laboratory technicians and IT-officers in the state.

You will be employed as a Laboratory Assistant at salary grade 1, level 1. Negotiation for salary supplement is possible. The working time is 10 hours per week on average.
