Researcher in Humanistic Values related to Animal Research

The cross-faculty Centre for Science and Faith at University of Copenhagen invites applications for a two-year position as researcher from 15 August 2026 or after agreement. This research centre functions across the Faculties of Health and Medical Sciences, Natural Science and Theology at University of Copenhagen (https://teol.ku.dk/Forskning/afd/center-for-videnskab-og-tro/). The researcher will join a multidisciplinary team working on translational animal models at the Section of Biomedicine. The position will study humanistic values related to use of animals for the generation of biomedical knowledge, in part related to the MEVIN project, sponsored by the NOVO Nordic Foundation 2026-30. In this project, animal models are used to generate knowledge relevant for diseased newborn infants.

The researcher’s duties will primarily include research, including obligations with regards to publication and scientific communication. A candidate in biomedicine, or a related field, with cross-disciplinary experience from humanistic research (e.g. anthropology, philosophy, theology), is preferred. To a limited degree, the position may also include other duties, including administration and teaching. Participation in formal pedagogical training program for assistant professors is expected.

Assessment of applicants will primarily consider their level of documented, internationally competitive research. The ability to attract external funding will be considered together with outreach qualifications. Teaching qualifications are not mandatory, but documented teaching qualifications and teaching experience will be considered. A candidate with a strong cross-disciplinary scientific profile, from biomedicine to humanities, are preferred.

The employment as Researcher is a fixed-term, 37 years per week position for 2 years. The position is open from 15 august 2026 or after agreement.

Terms of employment
The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff.

Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State.

Negotiation for salary supplement is possible.

The further process
