PhD scholarship(s) in Development Economics

Applications are invited for PhD scholarship(s) in Development Economics at the Department of Economics, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Copenhagen. Strategic funding for the scholarship comes from the Development Economics Research Group (DERG) where the PhD student will be situated. Employment is scheduled to begin on March 1, 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter.  
The PhD applicants must have a positive attitude towards an interdisciplinary approach to research (including triangulation of qualitative and quantitative observations) and take active part in strengthening interdisciplinary approaches at DERG. Moreover, the PhD student will have to contribute to the research portfolio at DERG. DERG currently has projects in Ethiopia, Mozambique, Myanmar and Tanzania. The projects cover a wide range of research topics and activities, including both original micro- and macroeconomic analyses and studies, the implementation of field surveys and other data generating initiatives, as well as associated capacity building. Applications should explicitly detail experience in the field of development economics, including knowledge of both quantitative and qualitative methods, and should contain a PhD project description (max 5 pages) that includes reflections on the project’s contribution to the portfolio of DERG.  
Terms of employment 
The terms of employment and payment are according to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State.

Application procedure 
After the expiry of the deadline for applications, the authorized recruitment manager selects applicants for assessment on the advice of the Appointments Committee. All applicants are then immediately notified whether their application has been passed for assessment by an expert assessment committee. Selected applicants are notified of the composition of the committee and each applicant has the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that relates to the applicant him/herself.
