Part-time associate professorship in Health Economics

The Department of Economics, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Copenhagen (UCPH) invites excellent candidates for a part-time associate professorship.

The position is a permanent, part-time role (averaging 1.875 hours per week), available from January 1, 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter.

Duties and Responsibilities

We are seeking an associate professor specialising in health economics, healthcare markets, and digital technology, with a proven ability to conduct high-quality and impactful research. A key focus of the position is the study of the role of machine learning and artificial intelligence in healthcare and public policy, including their implications for efficiency, equity, and governance. Candidates should possess a strong research record in relevant fields, with clear potential to contribute to both academic debates and policy discussions at national and international levels.

The duties and responsibilities of the post include contributing to the scholarship and intellectual life of the University of Copenhagen by conducting world-class research and teaching. An associate professor also has administrative responsibilities and is expected to contribute to the field's development and exercise academic leadership.

General duties attached to the position of Associate Professor of Economics are:

  • Research within the field of Health Economics.
  • Teaching, supervision, and examination of undergraduate and post-graduate students.
  • Knowledge sharing with the rest of society.
  • Research and teaching management.
  • Raising external research grants.
  • Administrative tasks.

Your Competencies and Opportunities
The position requires expertise in applied econometrics, including structural econometric modelling and machine learning methods, as well as experience in managing and working with large-scale administrative register data. Knowledge of the Danish health care sector and experience with interdisciplinary collaboration would be valuable. We are seeking a colleague who can integrate rigorous quantitative analysis with substantive, policy-relevant questions and contribute to the department through research, teaching, and supervision at all levels.

The position

The terms of appointment and salary are in accordance with the agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (Akademikerne). It is possible to negotiate salary supplements on an annual basis.
