Student helper at the Centre for Textile Research

The Saxo Institute, Faculty of Humanities, University of Copenhagen (UCPH) invites applicants for a student helper position at the Centre for Textile Research, to be filled by 01 February 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. The successful applicant must be enrolled as a student at a Danish University.

Position description

We are looking for a motivated student to help us in the daily running of the Centre for Textile Research, covering administrative support and research tasks, as well as support for event organisation. Students with particular interests in archaeology, history, art history, and/or ancient crafts, regardless of time period and geographical areas, will be considered, as well as students interested in textiles in general. Students with practical experience in textile technical analysis are strongly encouraged to apply.

Key responsibilities

  • Academic assistance: Supporting in planning and executing research seminars, workshops, outreach,
  • Daily support: Meeting facilitation, digital meeting support, booking of rooms, onboarding of visiting scholars, interns.
  • Support in research activities: editing, digital image work, bibliographical research, data management.
  • Web and social media: Maintaining the Centre’s webpage and keeping an active profile on various SoMe platforms.


Qualification requirements
Applicants with more than 1 year of studies left are preferable.

  • Strong organisational skills
  • Interest in textile research
  • Ability to work in a collaborative and international work environment
  • Proficiency in English and Danish
  • Experience with social media communication is an advantage.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office.

 

The position

Approximately 8 hours a week, flexible working hours with some weeks busier than others. Possibility of renewal.

The employment is governed by the rules of the Collective Agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and Public Employees’ Organizations – The State Sector (OAO-S Collective Agreement) and by the Organizational Agreement for Office Workers, Laboratory Technicians, and IT Employees (HK).

The Saxo Institute is dedicated to the study of human societies past and present, with degree programs ranging from History to Ethnology, Archeology, Classical Languages and Migration Studies.
