Laboratory assistant (Student helper) at Department of Chemistry, Section for Chemical Biology

Department of Chemistry at Faculty of Science, University of Copenhagen is looking for a laboratory assistant as student helper for a two-year period with effect from 1 June 2026.

About us

The group of Professor Knud J. Jensen, at the Department of Chemistry in University of Copenhagen seeks a new laboratory assistant to help facilitate the weekly laboratory maintenance. The group provides a friendly and professional work environment with a high drive and a large volume of experiments performed. The primary area of research is within synthetic chemical biology, peptide medicinal chemistry, nanobioscience, and organic chemistry. Tasks

The laboratory assistant will be expected to assist the scientific personnel with practical assistance. This will include organizing the cleaning of laboratory glassware and participate in lab cleaning. In addition, there will be several ad hoc tasks, for example, organization of supplies. The laboratory assistant will be supervised when performing these tasks. The position will take up approximately 8 hours a week. The hours are flexible, so they can be suited for exam periods and changing lecture schedules.

We expect

The new laboratory assistant of the NanoBioOrganic Chemistry group would ideally be a student of medicinal chemistry. It is important that you feel comfortable in a chemistry laboratory, as this is where the majority of the work will be performed. Furthermore, you should be disciplined and able to work independently and efficiently, while being supervised. Proficient in English both in writing and speaking. Since the research group includes many international researchers, our working language is English.

The working hours are very flexible, on average 8 hours a week. The employment will be as an hourly-paid laboratory assistant.

Terms of salary and employment

The employment and salary are made in accordance with the Circular on the Collective Agreement concerning academics in the state sector concluded between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).

Employment will be as student helper. The salary is based on seniority. Negotiation for salary supplement is possible. The working hours are 8 hours per week on average. The working hours are flexible.
