Research Consultant in Molecular Aging and Genome stress at the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine (ICMM)
We are looking for a highly motivated and independent research consultant to support our efforts in aging and genome maintenance to commence 1 June 2026 or after agreement.
Our research
Our research covers the exploration of the molecular basis of aging. The group is utilizing computational approaches to discover how again progresses and the molecular changes the occur with aging.
Your job
You will join a multi-disciplinary research team working on secondary DNA structures in premature aging. Specifically, you will be working on a Frontier Grant funded by the Lundbeck foundation.
Your tasks will be as defined by the frontiers grant:
Coordination of Proteomics, metabolomics and cytokine profiling
Western blot and Co-immunoprecipitation of proteins involved in DNA metabolism
Coordination of Surface Plasmon Resonance
Evaluation of DNA damage with microscopy in cells and histology
Cloning of Fragments of DNA repair factors
You will be expected to contribute to and support the ongoing research projects in the group on an ad hoc basis when needed; disseminate your expertise to new lab members and support the lab management.
Profile
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic staff scientist with the following competencies and experience:
Essential experience and skills
- You have a relevant master’s degree
- You have documented experience in aging and premature aging disorders
- You have an active interest in aging and interventions leading to healthy aging
- You have proven ability to envision, plan and execute a research project
- Good English skills, written and spoken
Desirable experience and skills
- Experience and knowledge in aging and DNA damage
- That you are working with the team
- You have a PhD in molecular biology

The place of employment is at the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, University of Copenhagen. Terms of employment
The average weekly working hours are 37 hours per week.
The position is a fixed-term position limited to a period of 1 year and 1 month. The starting date is 1 June 2026 or after agreement.
Employment will be in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement concerning Academics in the state sector concluded between the Danish Ministry of Finance and Akademikerne (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). The monthly salary will be based on the number of years of work experience (seniority) with the possibility to negotiate a salary supplement based on prior experience and qualifications. The employer will pay an additional 18.07 % to your pension fund.
