A Position as Expert Technical Assistant for Transgenic Services

The University seeks an Expert Technical Assistant for Transgenic Services for the Transgenic Core Facility at the Center for Core Facilities, at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, starting July 15th 2026.

Transgenic Core Facility
The Transgenic Core Facility at the University of Copenhagen provides a wide range of transgenic technologies to generate mouse and cell research models for scientists, also offers ES and MEF derivation services, mouse assisted reproduction technologies, sperm and embryo cryopreservation, embryo transfer and mouse colony management services  (Core Facility for Transgenic Mice – University of Copenhagen)

Job description
The Expert Technical Assistant’s duties will primarily comprise:

  • Design of genetic modification strategies
  • Cloning of genetic constructs
  • Generation of CRISPR/Cas9-based reagents (i.e. gRNAs and templates)
  • Design and execution of genotyping strategies
  • Development and implementation of new transgenic techniques
  • Cell culture work
  • Mouse handling and procedures
  • Advising and supporting users on gene targeting projects
  • Close interaction and coordination with the rest of the TCF team
  • Management features including reporting, accurate reagent and data and electronic, result recording in lab notebooks (benchling), benchmarking of services, participation in department meetings, working groups, presentations and symposia.

The applicant will be occasionally required to perform weekend work.

Required qualifications
We are looking for a candidate who can work independently on a daily basis but is also a team-player, with a deep understanding of genome-editing technologies, especially CRISPR/Cas9, and all basic molecular biology techniques, at least three-year proven experience in designing and generating genetically modified mouse and cell models, a creative and pro-active attitude towards the characterization of new models and high capacity of trouble-shooting as well as a clear service-oriented mindset. Moreover, the candidate should be fluent in English although ability to communicate in Danish will be considered, and should hold a valid international accreditation to work with laboratory animals.

Terms of employment
The position is full-time (37 hours weekly) and without an end date.

Employment will either be in accordance with the Collective Agreement concerning Academics in the state sector concluded between the Danish Ministry of Finance and Akademikerne (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). The monthly salary will be based on the number of years of work experience (seniority) with the possibility to negotiate a salary supplement based on prior experience and qualifications. The employer will pay an additional 18.07 % to your pension fund.

Or in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Organisations of Public Employees – governmental institutions (the OAO-S collective agreement) and the Professional Agreement for clerical employees, laboratory technicians and IT officers in the state. The position is placed in salary group 4 or 5. The employer will pay an additional 16 % to your pension fund.

If it is deemed appropriate from an overall perspective, you must be prepared to be security screened, in relation to international research and innovation collaboration, as part of the employment process at the University of Copenhagen.
