Assistant Professor of Large Animal Internal Medicine
We are looking for one or two highly motivated and dynamic Assistant Professor(s) to the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences, Section of Medicine & Surgery to commence 1.8.2025 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Information on the Department can be found at: https://ikv.ku.dk/.
Our research and teaching
The Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences covers strong and internationally recognized research areas in clinical veterinary sciences. Our research supports teaching in a manner and quality securing continued national and international bench marking. The culture of the department is typically Scandinavian: a flat structure with a tradition for close collaboration where all employees are expecting openness, mutual respect, and sharing of ideas, resources and competences.
The Section for Medicine, Surgery and Reproduction for Large animals holds research and clinical teaching, in a modern 24-hour open university veterinary teaching hospital and ambulatory field practice service for all large animals with horses as the primary species consulted. We also have a modern up-to-date pre-clinical skills lab open 24/7 for veterinary students to practice clinical skills as well as a diagnostic laboratory. A relatively large part of our research is fertilised and inspired from clinical challenges. Based on these, we want to set a new standard for cross-disciplinary research, education and innovation within animal health and disease. Also, translational research bridging basic science to human medicine is strong in this section.

To a limited extent you may also be required to participate in other duties e.g. after hours duty, where all the department's patients (horses, small and large ruminants, and pigs) are serviced.
During the period of employment, the Assistant Professor will have to complete didactic pedagogical training. Interested candidates that demonstrate a high research output may be able to enter into a clinical training program, such as a residency, with the approval of the Head of Section Leader and Department chair.
The Assistant Professor’s duties will primarily consist of:
- research, including publication/scientific communication

- participation in formal pedagogical training programme for Assistant Professors
Assessment of applicants will primarily consider their level of documented, internationally competitive research. The six criteria (research, teaching, societal impact, organisational contribution, external funding and leadership) are considered a framework for the overall assessment of candidates.
