PhD Candidate in Molecular Biology at BRIC

We are looking for a curious, self-motivated and dynamic PhD candidate for a 3-year position, to join the group of Prof. Ana Cvejic from the 1st of October 2025.

Our research
The aim of our group is to decipher how differentiation pathways of haematopoietic cells are influenced by different microenvironments. To achieve that we use state-of-the-art single-cell RNA-seq, multiome, and spatial transcriptomics data generation combined with computational analysis to establish principles of blood lineage differentiation.  We are a team of highly collaborative researchers performing exciting interdisciplinary science using cutting-edge technologies.
 

Profile

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic candidate. You will be passionate about science, hardworking, and excited to learn and improve skills in a multidisciplinary research environment. It is essential that the candidate has demonstratable knowledge and practical experience in the following areas. Candidates who do not meet these competences are discouraged from applying:

  • Human iPSC culture and differentiation, iPSC-derived organoid models
  • Sectioning and staining techniques of fixed and frozen liver tissue
  • Sample preparation for 10X Xenium spatial transcriptomics
  • Working with primary cells and patient-derived materials
  • Multicolor flow cytometry and single-cell sorting
  • An M.Sc. or recognized equivalent degree in life sciences or medicine
  • Highly organised
  • Excellent ability to effectively prioritise and multi-task
  • Excellent English skills, written and spoken
     

Place of employment

Terms of employment
The average weekly working hours are 37 hours per week.

The position is a fixed-term position limited to a period of 3 years. The starting date is the October 1st 2025.

The employment is conditioned upon the applicant’s successful enrolment as a PhD student at the Graduate School at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.

Employment will be in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). The monthly salary will be based on the number of years of work experience (seniority) with the possibility to negotiate a salary supplement based on prior experiences and qualifications. The employer will pay an additional 18.07 % to your pension fund.
