Postdoc in Theoretical High Energy Physics

The Theoretical Particle Physics and Cosmology group (het.nbi.dk) at the Niels Bohr Institute (www.nbi.dk) has two openings for two-year postdoc positions starting in the fall of 2018 or soon hereafter. One position is funded by the DFF project “Integrability and beyond” directed by Charlotte Kristjansen and the other by the DFF project “Towards a deeper understanding of black holes with non-relativistic holography” directed by Niels Obers and Troels Harmark.

Applicants are expected to have an excellent knowledge and strong research background in modern developments in gravity, field theory, holography and string theory. For the former project, it is an advantage if the applicant has some interest in and experience with the AdS/CFT correspondence, integrability as well as AdS/CMT. For the latter project, it is an advantage if the applicant has some interest in and experience with the AdS/CFT correspondence, non-AdS holography and black holes.

While each of the positions is for two years, it is envisioned that funding for a 3rd year will be actively pursued (together with the chosen candidate) by applying for other sources.

The postdoc’s duties will include research within theoretical high energy physics. The position may also include performance of other duties.

Further information on the Department is linked at het.nbi.dk. Inquiries about the position can be made to Professor Charlotte Kristjansen (kristjan@nbi.dk), Professor Niels Obers (Obers@nbi.dk) or Associate Professor Troels Harmark (harmark@nbi.dk).

The positions are open from 1 October 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The University wishes our staff to reflect the diversity of society and thus welcomes applications from all qualified candidates regardless of personal background.

Terms of employment

The positions are covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff.

Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State.

The starting salary is currently up to DKK 419.772 including annual supplement (+ pension up to DKK 71.781). Negotiation for salary supplement is possible.
