Microsoft Quantum Postdoctoral fellow in experimental quantum information at the Niels Bohr Institute (Denmark) and Aalto University (Finland)

The Center for Quantum Devices is a basic research center supported by the Danish National Research Foundation, comprising materials research, experimental physics, nanoelectronics and condensed matter theory. Station Q Copenhagen is a research center sponsored by Microsoft Research aimed at developing topological quantum information processing hardware. The Pico group at Aalto University’s Department of Applied Physics investigates mesoscopic physics and its sensor applications. The group is part of the national Centre of Excellence – Quantum Technology Finland (QTF), and operates in the state-of-the-art national research infrastructure OtaNano, comprising advanced nanofabrication, nanomicroscopy, and ultra-low temperature measurement facilities for quantum technologies at Aalto Otaniemi campus.  
The position  
The Center for Quantum Devices, Station Q Copenhagen, and the Pico group at Aalto University are seeking applications for two postdoctoral fellowships for the experimental implementation of solid state quantum information systems. Applicants should have a PhD in Physics with relevant experimental experience. Research involves nanofabrication, cryogenics using a cryofree dilution refrigerator, rf and microwave electronics, data analysis, interaction with theoretical physicists, and aptitude for scientific writing in English.

The position is open from 1 August, 2018 or by arrangement. The duration is two years with the possibility of extension.

Terms of employment  
The postdoctoral fellowships are either at the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen (Denmark) or at Aalto University (Finland) with collaborative teams in Delft Technical University (NL), University of Sydney (AUS), Purdue University (USA), UC Santa Barbara (USA), and Microsoft, Redmond, Washington (USA).  
For the position in Denmark, the terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State. The starting salary is 405k DKK plus additional pension contribution up to 69k DKK. Salary is negotiable.  
For the position in Aalto University’s PICO group (Finland), the starting salary is negotiable and varies according to experience of the candidate (starting from 3533 €/month), and the employment is bound by the Finnish collective agreement of universities.
