Two Postdoc Positions in Metabolic Signalling

We are looking for two highly motivated and dynamic researchers for two postdoc positions to start 1 November 2019.
The Center was established in 2010 through a generous, unrestricted grant from the Novo Nordisk Foundation (NNF). The vision of the Center is to strengthen interdisciplinary research that transforms our basic understanding of the mechanisms of metabolic health and disease, and to accelerate this knowledge toward new prevention and treatment strategies. The Center has around 200 employees from all over the world. We moved into new laboratories, offices and meeting rooms in the Maersk Tower in summer 2017. In 2018, the Center obtained new strategic funding from the NNF to further expand and establish/develop five enabling biology and technology platforms in support of the new research strategy. The aim of the Sakamoto Group is to elucidate key molecular signalling mechanisms that control energy metabolism and glucose homeostasis associated with exercise, insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes (see more on https://cbmr.ku.dk/research/nutrient-and-metabolite-sensing/sakamoto-group/). The Sakamoto Group works in close collaboration with the other groups of the Integrative Metabolism and Environmental Influences/ Nutrient and Metabolite Sensing program as well as the other programs/platforms of the Center (see more on https://cbmr.ku.dk/research/). The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research represents a highly international research environment characterised by teamwork and collaborations across a range of biomedical disciplines.
The projects will aim at investigating the molecular mechanisms by which glucose and carbohydrate metabolism are regulated through phosphorylation and allosteric regulation.
The Sakamoto lab uses a multidisciplinary approach in their research and employ techniques ranging from molecular biology and biochemistry to pre-clinical studies using unique generic models. The aims of the projects available in the lab are to explore the functional roles of components of the molecular signalling network in control of energy and glucose homeostasis. We are also interested in investigating underlying mechanisms using genetic screens, proteomics and in vivo reporter models that the successful candidates will develop and apply during this project.
We are looking for two highly motivated and enthusiastic scientists with the following competencies and qualifications:
The ideal candidate combines:
- PhD in a relevant biological subject with research experience in protein biochemistry and cell biology or physiology
- Strong academic track record with at least one good quality first author publication in peer-reviewed journals
- Experience in metabolic phenotyping/analyses in rodents
- Ability to work independently, but capable of interacting well within a group
- Excellent communication skills and proficiency in English
Terms of employment
The two postdoc positions are full-time positions for two years (with potential extension after two years). Starting date is 1 November 2019.
Salary, pension and terms of employment will be in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated.
Non-Danish and Danish applicants may be eligible for tax reductions, if they hold a PhD degree and have not lived in Denmark the last 10 years.

The further process
