Postdoc in Veterinary Microbiology

We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic researcher with experience in molecular clinical microbiology for an 18 months postdoc position to commence on November 1st 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is for 30 hours a week.


Section for Veterinary Clinical Microbiology, Department of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, in collaboration with the National Food Institute, Technical University of Denmark and private companies have obtained a grant from GUDP to work with gut-health effects of feeding calves with certain fermentation products from cow milk. The main task of the section is to determine the effect of fermentation products on expression of selected virulence genes in diarrheagenic E. coli. The post doc is expected to work closely together with researchers at the other partners in the project.


We are seeking a post doc, highly skilled in handling and characterization of pathogenic bacteria including experience with gene knock out, expression analysis and sequence analysis.

Essential criteria

  • PhD in Molecular Clinical Microbiology
  • Very strong experience in expression analysis in bacteria
  • Experience with molecular microbiology techniques, such as cloning, gene-knock out and reporter gene technology
  • Experience in analysis of sequencing data
  • Experience in experimental design and planning of experiments
  • Demonstrated capacity for effective team work
  • Proven track record showing scientific productivity in peer reviewed journals
  • Good communication skills in English

Detailed knowledge on virulence mechanisms of diarrheagenic E. coli

Terms of employment 

The employment as postdoc is a 30 hours position for 18 months. Starting date is November 1st  2019 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Salary, pension and terms of employment will be in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).  Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated. Non-Danish and Danish applicants may be eligible for tax reductions, if they hold a PhD degree and have not lived in Denmark the last 10 years. The position is covered by the “Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff at the Universities” of June 28, 2013.
