Postdoc position in the study of radicalisation and violent extremism

A postdoc position in the study of radicalization and extremism is available at the Centre for Global Criminology, Department of Anthropology, University of Copenhagen The position is available for two years from 1 April 2020 or later

Applicants should have fieldwork experience from at least one of the regions in question; knowledge of theories and debates within the study of radicalisation and mobilisation processes; knowledge of ethnographic methods and hold a Ph.D. in the social sciences or humanities.

Job description 
The successful candidate will be part of a larger EU-financed project looking at radicalisation and violent extremism in the Balkans, Middle East and North Africa. A postdoctoral position is a fixed-term academic position.

Salary and conditions of employment
Salary and conditions of employment will be in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC). The annual salary for postdoctoral researchers is within the range DKK 405.203,16 – 426.625,2 (EUR 54,000 – 57,000 app.). In addition to the salary paid directly to you, the University will also pay a monthly contribution to your pension fund corresponding to 17.1 % of your salary. The application shall be submitted in English and include a CV, a short motivation letter (maximum 1 page), a copy of the doctoral certificate or letter signed by the promotor that a doctoral certificate is expected in due time, a publication list, and a maximum number of three scientific publications, at least two of which are international journal articles. Teaching portfolio and references can also be included, if available.

After the expiry of the deadline for applications, applicants are selected for assessment on the advice of the Appointment Committee. All applicants are then immediately notified whether an expert assessment committee has passed their application for assessment. Selected applicants are  notified of the composition of the committee and each applicant has the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that relates to the applicant him/herself.
