Our research
Our team focuses on tissue regeneration in the large bowel to gain a better insight into the process of regeneration and to identify new potential therapeutic targets that can enhance the repair process following damage. To achieve this, we utilise patient derived organoid models, advanced gene editing, in vivo mouse models, state-of the-art transcriptomic as well as screening combined with imaging approaches.

Your job
We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in developmental and stem cell biology to study the cellular and molecular mechanisms of epithelial cell reprogramming during intestinal epithelial injury using engineered 3D cultures of colon organoids and in vivo mouse model of colitis. By modulating the activity of candidate proteins, we aim at elucidating the role of such proteins in the process of tissue repair and to identify potential therapeutic target to improve epithelial regeneration.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, generating and maintaining mouse models and engineered organoid lines, generating and analysing samples and datasets for proteomic, transcriptomic and mass spectrometry studies. Collaboration with researchers within the group and the center, as well as external collaborators, will also be essential to drive the project forward effectively. In addition, the role will also include aspects of research dissemination such as research-based teaching.

Profile
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with the following competencies and experience:

Essential experience and skills:

  • You have a PhD in Biology or similar
  • You are highly experienced in 3D culture of epithelial organoids, CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, high-content imaging and data analysis, immunofluorescence and confocal imaging, and in vivo experiments in genetic mouse models of colitis
  • You have an active interest in collaborating but also to work independently, you are ambitious, enthusiastic and attentive to details
  • Proficient communication skills and ability to work in teams
  • Excellent English skills written and spoken
  • Experience with research-based teaching

Desirable experience and skills:

  • Experience with flow cytometry
  • Experience with analysis of sequencing data
