Assistant Professor of Inflammatory crosstalk at LEO Foundation Skin Immunology Research Center

We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic assistant professor for a 2-year position to commence September 1st, 2025

The project will be focused on elucidating inflammatory crosstalk between the skin and the lungs and thymus during inflammatory skin diseases.

Our research
You will work in the T Cell Biology and Skin Inflammation group https://sic.ku.dk/research/t-cell-biology-and-skin-inflammation/ Our main research interests are T cell biology in inflammatory skin diseases with emphasis on T cell responses during allergic contact dermatitis, crosstalk between different types of T cells and antigen-presenting cells and keratinocytes, respectively.  Additionally, we are investigating the role of skin-resident memory T cells versus systemic memory T cells during skin inflammation.

 

Your job

Your research task will focus on studies on the interactions between inflammation in the skin, lungs and thymus.

The assistant professor’s responsibilities will primarily consist of:

  • research, including publication/academic dissemination duties
  • research-based teaching
  • sharing knowledge with society
  • participation in formal pedagogical training programme for assistant professors

Furthermore, we are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with the following skills and experience:

Essential experience and skills:

  • PhD in immunology or related field
  • License for animal experiments and an active interest in skin immunology and allergic contact dermatitis
  • Experience with in vivo murine models of allergic contact dermatitis
  • Highly experienced in in vitro techniques
  • Proficient communication skills and ability to work in teams
  • Excellent English skills written and spoken

Desirable experience and skills:

  • Experience/knowledge in microscopy

 

Place of employment

The place of employment is at the Department of Immunology and Microbiology, University of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in dynamic and international research environment. Our research facilities include modern laboratories and equipment.

 

Terms of employment

The average weekly working hours are 37 hours per week.

The position is a fixed-term position limited to a period of 2 years. The starting date is September 1st, 2025, or after agreement.

Salary, pension and other conditions of employment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant organisation. Currently, the monthly salary starts at 38,733 DKK/approx. 5,192 EUR (April 2025 level). Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.

 

Foreign and Danish applicants may be eligible for tax reductions if they hold a PhD degree and have not lived in Denmark the last 10 years.

 

The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2020.
