Research Assistant for the Gerhart-Hines Group

We are looking for a highly motivated Research Assistant to support our efforts in mapping body-brain interactions and GPCR pharmacology to commence October 1, 2025, or after agreement.

Background

The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research (CBMR) is an academic research Center that pioneers groundbreaking research towards better cardiometabolic health. Through collaborative interdisciplinary research from single-cell genomics to whole-body systems, CBMR aims to transform the basic understanding of cardiometabolic health and accelerate its translation into prevention and treatment strategies. The Center’s uniquely multi- and interdisciplinary approach combines research in genetics, physiology and pharma­cology, to better understand the complex interplay of the many factors that drive cardiometabolic disease. CBMR was established in 2010, at the Faculty of Health & Medical Sciences and has been located in the Maersk Tower at Panum since 2017. The around 250 employees create an international, highly collaborative research environment across disciplines.

Our group and research

The Gerhart-Hines Group interrogates peripheral and central mechanisms of homeostatic control and seeks to leverage their discoveries to develop novel pharmacotherapies for the treatment of obesity and type 2 diabetes.

Your job

We are looking for an enthusiastic Research Assistant who will be part of research projects that focus on mapping receptor expression in different neuronal populations and then functional evaluating receptor signaling interactions in vitro.

Your Profile

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Research Assistant with the following competencies and experience:

Essential experience and skills

  • Master’s degree in Biology, Neuroscience, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Molecular Biomedicine, or related sciences.
  • Previous publications
  • Relevant work experience
  • Other professional activities
  • Experience with in vivo phenotyping
  • Knowledge of neuronal and adipose biology, energy homeostasis, and endocrinology
  • A FELASA or equivalent certification for animal experimentation is desirable.
  • A curious and innovative mindset with strong self-motivation to develop new knowledge and treatment for complex modern chronic diseases
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and oral

Place of employment

The place of employment is at Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research, Maersk Tower, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at University of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in a dynamic and international research environment.

Terms of salary and employment

The employment as research assistant is a full-time position for 1 year. The expected starting date is October 1, 2025, or after agreement. Employment will be in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).
